The Guillami String Quartet was formed in 1998 and, for two consecutive years, was a recipient of the prestigious Bulldog Scholarship from Trinity College of Music.  Mor recently the Quartet has performed for the City Music Society in London and released a debut CD featuring works by Mozart, Walton and Shostakovich,

Mozart's String Quartet in G major, K.80 was the first he composed.  It was written when he was 14 years old in "Lodi" near Mirano.  He composed three movements in one day.  I Adagio, II Allegro and III Minuet.  The 4th movement, Rondo, is supposed to have been composed later, around 1773.

Shostakovich's String Quartet No 7, was written in 1960 as a tribute to his first wife Nina who died in 1954.  It is a compact work, lasting a mere thirteen minutes, but it covers a much broader expanse than its brevity might suggest,  The work comprises three movements and within themm lies a musical journey that is unmistakably pure Shostakovich.

Beethoven's three "Razumovsky" string quartet's, Op.59, were written in 1805-1806, as a result of a commission by Count Andreas Razumovsky:  they are the first three of what are usually known as the "Middle Period" string quartets.  Beethoven uses a characteristically "Russian" theme in the first two quartets in honor of the Count.  Op.59 No.3, has no explicit "Theme russe" , but many commentators have heard a "Russian" character in the subject of the second movement, the Andantino.
