Welcome to The Northern Aldborough Festival 2011.

Thursday 16th June - Saturday 25th June 2011

'Well on its way to being on of the leading fixtures on the classical music calendar' The TImes

The 2011 Aldborough Festival promises to be one of the most memorable yet. Opera returns to the festival, with a new opera company, OperaUpClose, which began life in a London Pub and has just beaten the likes of the Royal Opera to the 2011 Olivier Award. They will be bringing their new production of The Barber of Seville (or Salisbury). Other highlights include the Elias Quartet performing with Ilona Timchenko, a return of the Northern Sinfonia with larger forces to perform classical symphonies and overtures, the young Glendower Duo (clarinet & piano) and a sumptuous re-imagining of the requiem service for Empress Maria of Spain, featuring Victoria's glorious Requiem for 6 Voices.

Of course we should not forget to mention our renowned last night outdoor concert, which was listed as one of the Telegraph's top 15 family festivals in 2010. This year we take you back to the 1950's for a night of music from Rydell high, Sandy, Danny, Pink Ladies & T-Birds. It's Greased Up!

There is so more than is listed here, including morning concerts in some of the most beautiful venues in North Yorkshire, so for a full list of our events, go to the Events pages.
